Beale Street Barbeque and Grill
215 Water St, Bath, Bath,
What a disappointment! I am from Memphis (where the REAL Beale Street is located) and I was so excited when I found Beale Street BBQ. The meat was good, tender, and moist, but NOT what you would expect for good Southern BBQ. Real BBQ is smoked for hours and hours over hickory, mesquite, and other aromatic woods. This was a "no-smoking" restaurant when it comes to the BBQ. It totally lacked that special flavor of meat that has slow cooked in a good old-fashion smoker. The prices were moderate and the service was acceptable, but the food was a good solid disappointment, mediocre at best. There isn't a lot of true BBQ in Maine, but it can be found...just not here.

Kennebec Tavern
119 Commercial St, Bath, Bath,
Not what I would call a romantic place. Very white, stuffy atmosphere and service. Very little parking. Very expensive for what you get. You pay for their "atmosphere". Truthfully not worth the trip. If your going to Bath do yourself a favor, stay out of here and go to Beale Street.
